Golden Heights Project - 2021 Summer Academy Application
Founded in 2020, the Golden Heights Project aims to inspire students from historically underrepresented and underserved neighborhoods on the Eastside of Los Angeles to pursue careers in local public service.
This summer, selected participants will engage in programming that breaks down the fundamentals of local government, critically examines Los Angeles’ cultural history, and highlights extraordinary community leaders and organizations who are fighting to represent the Eastside on several key issues. Additionally, through our Community Action Projects (CAPs), students will be granted the opportunity to identify a social issue in their community and receive upwards of $200 in funding to design and develop a project that seeks to address that issue. Selected participants will also receive a weekly grocery stipend and funding to cover transportation costs for any in-person activities
The Summer Academy will run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays starting the week of June 21st through the week of August 9th (a total of 7 weeks). The first day of our program will be Tuesday, June 22nd, and the last day of our program will be Thursday, August 12th. In general, students can expect to join us from 11AM - 3PM.
